Sandra Welner, M.D. In Memorium.... The world lost a true hero to women with disabilities with Sandra Welner's tragic death in October, 2001. Sandy's knowledge, understanding, and tireless advocacy can never be replaced, but her message of universal access to health care remains alive. She knew that women with disabilities are women first, and have the same reproductive health care needs as nondisabled women.
